OUGD405 Studio Brief 3 - Idea Generation

For this publication, my initial ideas were to create a booklet displaying all of my research, but in such a way that it is similar to a travel guide. However I will create a guide for Bucket lists showing my research but in persuasive manner to encourage people to start their own bucket lists. I started out by creating a mind map of different options for layout designs then researching into grid systems, different grids for layouts and how different mediums use grid systems such as newspapers and magazines. I initially started off however by looking at various layout designs and double page spreads which I found visually stunning. I think editorial design really interests me and is something I may look towards doing in the future, so this project is really useful for starting me off on getting the right set of skills, especially learning about InDesign which is a key software I want to learn about. One travel guide I found really beautiful was ELLE's Traveller magazine from January 2014. This is the same sort of simplistic but stunning aesthetic that I would like to achieve in my publication, and has helped me in creating initial ideas for my double page spreads.
