OUGD403 Studio Brief 4 - Production

OUGD403 Studio Brief 4 - Production

For my final outcome, I chose these three posters with the green background and black and white text. I think all link together better with this style and show the simple, yet challenging effect that I was after. After our final crit as well, I decided to cut down the text at the bottom of the page into just two lines, which I am glad I have done as I feel it makes the poster look more clean and less bottom heavy. Overall I have struggled with this brief as I feel like there is room for a lot of improvement with my posters, yet I am happy that the message is clearly convey in all of the posters which was my main goal for the designs. I think if I had more time to do this again however, I would work on the designs and perhaps making the poster look more professional. While developing these posters I was quite unhappy with the overall look of the posters, yet as I have come to finish them, look back and have feedback on them, I am actually happier than I initially thought with the overall appearance. I think this brief has been really useful as I have never designed a poster before, and learning how hard it actually is. I am keen to learn more though and to continue designing as this is just the initial learning stage within the degree, and I am keen to expand my knowledge and progress.

Final Crit

From my final crit, I got really useful feedback - everyone agreed that they preferred the green background and white and black text which confirms my thoughts about what colour scheme I should go with. In addition everyone preferred my second idea for the image only poster of an adult and child walking with different thought bubbles. I found that I have struggled with the image only poster but to hear that everyone found the message very clear was really encouraging. I also got feedback on the use of text at the bottom of my posters, that maybe I should have not as much; this is also something I thought about doing, therefore I am going to cut down the text before my final prints.
