OUGD401 Studio Brief 1 - Production
I decided to go forward with this design as from further feedback, this was preferred. In my final critique this design got good feedback as my peers interpreted the designs as quite chemically, and reminded them of a kaleidoscope, and the repetition of the different shades reminded them of the video therefore was appropriate. They said it was successful and I think overall out of all of the variations I have created this is the most successful for me. I really like the lively, fast paced energy of the cover which suits the video. In addition the use of recursion and the swirls is almost like a dizzying, trippy effect which suits the vibe of the video.
Final Critique:
For our final critique, I had a pair review my design, the overall evaluation was that the design was very effective because it reflects the video well - regarding all the different sections and fast paced editing. The vibrant colours are very eye catching and it heavily communicates fast movement and light. In addition, they stated that it solved the problem however it would be interesting to have used liquids to represent chemicals rather than 'light' produced digitally. That being said, it represents the song well and the final outcome works best digitally, for example screen prints etc wouldn't work as it wouldn't look as defined. Overall I am very happy with this response and interpretation of my design, I think the pair have evaluated to such an extent that they identified things I hadn't seen myself, this then helped me a lot in writing my 140 character description for secret 7.
