OUGD406 Studio Brief 2 - Idea Generation
I think the overall design of the book links well with the content of the book, however I think it doesn't look to appealing overall as the design is quite old fashioned and needs a modern approach. I think the design should have more of an impact on audiences, particularly as this is aimed for graphic designers, it must be appealing as we as graphic designers can see good design from bad design. I think perhaps a more post modernist approach to this cover would be better as the hardest typography decisions in my opinion are for post modernist designs. If the cover is well designed, the book itself will be more appreciated and also could appeal to other audiences as well as who it is just primarily aimed at. I think as well that typography is a hard subject to visualise and I need to make a cover that creates more interest in the subject, as typography isn't the most appealing subject to some, I believe if the cover is playful and fun it will make the subject more approachable. I started off with creating a mind map of what I could do and different ideas, I need to keep into consideration that I'm creating a screen print and I'm limited to two colours and stock. Therefore I will go onto making different thumbnails to give me more inspiration as currently I'm finding this quite a hard task to do.
