OUGD504 Studio Brief 2 - Brand Research

OUGD504 Studio Brief 2 - Brand Research

I have chosen to do research on different brands from the book 'Branding Element Logo: Volume 3,' all that use plants as the main subject for their brand identity. I thought it would be necessary to look into brands that aren't related to my chosen project to see how successful brands identify themselves and apply their logos. However as these all relate to plants/nature the designs are relevant to the direction I would like to take within my own designs. This research will allow me explore all the aspects and considerations necessary within my designs.

Sendpoints (2014) Branding Element Logo: Volume 3. United States: Gingko Press.

Estetica D'Marie is an exclusive female hair service that specialises in elaborate braids, ornamented with natural flowers. The design aims to inspire confidence and femininity. The colour palette is derived from autumn tones with a soft, feminine touch. The illustrative style indicates the meticulousness of the art of hair braiding.

Olive Oil

Olive Oil logo carries a summer herbs and Mediterranean flavour. The italic typeface on a refreshingly light green bottle complements the countryside brand image. The typeface also relates to the product as both are flowing, therefore it is appropriate to have an decorative typeface. Clearly every aspect has been considered and all details of the logo relate to the product, suggesting a clear brand identity.

Floral Theory

Floral Theory, a boutique floral design company that sought a logo to convey the clean, organic and elegant simplicity of its overall aesthetic. The water colour hand-lettered script expresses the organic nature of the products. The neutral palette of grey tones serves to compliment, rather than complete with the varied imagery of the company's floral works.

Tree of Tea

The logo Tree of Tea, a premium loose leaf tea brand is a constellation of leaves and assumes different colours corresponding to the palette of the blend. The arrangement not only demonstrates the variation of the tea products but also enhances the visual appeal of the design. The logo is expandable as a geometrical pattern and works as a beautiful decoration in the package.

La Marchesa

La Marchesa is a fruit and vegetable shop operating since 1962. To create a logo that reflects the elegant and natural attributes of the brand, the designer developed a logo that is both elegant and rustic. The design features a robust tree and custom made typography.

Cafe Belong

Cafe Belong is located in a lush green space among some restored heritage buildings. The designer found a rustic and cool way to convey the characteristic of the location by building up the initial letter 'B' with spiky branches surrounding the central trunk.

Yoga Vie

Yoga Vie studios is where staff our passionate about teaching and helping clients realise their full potential and embrace the yoga spirit. Aiming to build a modern and upscale brand image, the designer visualised the vitality yoga brings by shaping a green leaf into a typical yoga move.
