OUGD504 Studio Brief 2 - Further Development
The critique was really useful and led to a change of ideas, it was agreed that the designs should be futuristic and innovative. Therefore a different approach was undertaken during the further development. As it was back to the drawing board, new thumbnails were made and the research undertaken was once again looked at but in a different approach to consider how to reestablish the logo.
The technique was tried and tested of relating the design to the brightness key on a laptop. This works successfully as this communicates brightness and the plant together with the text connotes light. These ideas however are limited as they aren't very original and have been done before. Other techniques were tired out which went against the initial concept, such as being literal by incorporating a lightbulb and also making the logo more genetic based. It was felt however that this wasn't right to use, it goes against the initial concept of keeping the branding quite natural, and looked unappealing as it gives an artificial, manufactured vibe which deter customers. Although this is ironic as it is genetically modified, it is best to stick with the concept and what you think is best, therefore a natural style branding will continue to be used.
With these considerations now in place, after further experimentation and feedback for peers, a logo was decided upon which is simple, yet effective. The use of green is adequate as although it is obvious, it works best kept with its representations. Audiences will instantly be able to recognise that this project connotes growth, nature, freshness and safety as this what green symbolises. This is best kept and best used so audiences can straight forwardly see the nature and key concepts of the brand. The outline of the leaves suggests a glow and together with the text implies that this is a new, innovative idea, fulfilling the futurist logo.
