OUGD504 Studio Brief 3 - Idea Generation

OUGD504 Studio Brief 3 - Idea Generation

A range of ideas were put forward for the concept of this publication, but the original and most successful concept was creating the publication in the style of an antique book. This could be successful as it is relevant due to the content being photographs in an antique market, therefore the content and the aesthetic will complement each other and be consistent. In addition its good to steer away from the norm of doing a contemporary, modern photography publication as we always see or being in trend. It will be interesting to create a book with an antique feel yet for a photography publication. Although the two contradict each other, they can still be combined and linked as the primary focus of this publication is typography; therefore the antique letters of the vintage market would suit antique typography for the design of the publication. The use of pastiche and combining old and new is always interesting, particularly with the front cover and production methods for the antique feel with the high quality photographs.
The target audience will be a focused audience on those interested in typography, photographers and graphic designers also. Due to this very niche audience, the design must be a high standard as the target audience are predominantly professionals in the industry. Once the concept was in place, decisions for all the considerations could be made. Another brainstorm was created to generate these ideas, to help when coming to the design decisions.
